How to start making videos online

I'll be listing the biggest excuses people make and have said to me as to why they haven't started making content, and more importantly, HOW TO GET OVER IT

1) “I don’t have any cool gear to film on”

The idea that you need x camera or x editing software before you can start making videos is bullsh*t

I was able to make money online as a creator while I just had an IPhone and I use DaVinci to edit my videos, which is free

Yes, gear is cool, but not having gear cannot be an excuse to not make content

Make content, get your first videos out, and worry about gear later

2) “I don’t have time because I’m still in school”

This leads to a broader question about priorities in life

You say you wanna make videos, but clearly if you’re justifying not starting by saying you don’t have time…

GUESS WHAT: with that mentality you’ll always find an excuse

Now it’s school. But in 2 years, it’s going to be a job. In 5 years, it’s going to be a girlfriend/boyfriend that takes up your time. In 10 years, it’s going to be kids

Do you want me to tell you how sexy you are before you stop making excuses?

And if you want practical advice: make content about the fact that you’re in school and that you don’t have time. It will force you to innovate and be resourceful, and soon you’ll be so tired of hearing yourself complain that you will be forced to take action

If you want to make videos badly enough, you can find 2 hours a day to film and edit. Stop going to the club, stop scrolling on Reels, and just film

3) “I have nothing to talk about”

The thing that is going to make your content unique is the fact that you are a unique person

Talk about your background

Talk about your passions

Talk about your career

Talk about your biggest motivations in life

Already those 4 things make for 4 different and really unique videos

4) This is the big one “I need my videos to be perfect before I begin”

Whoever convinced you of this is an agent of the state and they are being paid by the Illuminati to convince you to never ever make content, and this is pure propaganda, and I would find whoever this person is and make sure they can never contact you ever again

(This is an exaggeration and not backed by research)

My point is, how are you ever going to make a perfect video if you don’t practice?

When I began Short Form Mike, I told myself that I wouldn’t worry about changing my video strategy until I posted 100 videos

And you’ll often find that you will see progress, whether that’s getting more clients, getting more followers, or simply having fun with your content, WAY before you reach 100 videos (for me it was after about 30 videos when I was like “ok I’m seeing growth in my follower count + earning more money”)

I hope this was helpful 😉

P.S here’s a video I made about this a few months ago
