How to stand out on social media... and in life
The secret to getting more followers... but also to making more genuine friends
You need to be polarizing online, but don’t be a d*ck
One of my favorite social media techniques is “Us vs Them”
I’m not a sociologist, but humans want to feel like they are a part of something
When you watch a Short Form Mike video I make that distinction pretty clear. I am a part of the “entrepreneurs” who was able to break away from the “finance bros and consultants”
Yes, it annoys the “consultants” but I get so many supportive comments from young entrepreneurs looking to build their dream life for themselves, and it warms my heart
Yes, not all of my comments are kind or supportive. But 99% of the time, I get messages from people telling me I inspired them to go after what they want in life
That’s why I do what I do
Not everyone is going to like you no matter how hard you try
So you might as well ask yourself “if nobody was watching me, how would I dress, what activities would I do, what opinions would I say without filter?”
Obviously, don’t go around sharing EVERYTHING that is on your mind (don’t tell someone you think they are stupid unprompted, or tell that person that their shirt is ugly. Be polite, I’m not advocating to be a bully)
But don’t pretend to be someone else just to make someone like you.
I’ve started doing that in the last 3 months, and I’ve made more friends as a full-time content creator than I have in 4 years at McGill University.
Because you are the prize; and that applies to dating, friendships, and even business
Be ready to walk away because when you are happy with yourself, your opinions, and your life, you don’t need other people’s opinions to validate it

Be polarizing
