Being honest about my anxiety

How I deal with being anxious as an entrepreneur, and how you can learn from me

A picture from February

Being anxious sucks

Picture this: you have a HUGE project. In my case, that usually looks like me making a client video. They have high standards, and they’re paying me a lot of money to make them a good video and more importantly, to get results

I get scared. So that makes me overthink. And when you overthink, I just want to crawl into a ball, DELAY, and PROCRASTINATE on that task

So I used to drink. I used to take long naps so I didn’t have to think about it. I would make my own content to distract myself, but that was just a form of “productive procrastination”

We all get anxious, myself included, and it’s something I deal with and will deal with for the rest of my life

But ultimately, as much as this sucks, your client who’s paying you a lot of money to make a video for them, doesn’t care. You gave them your word. For them, you must follow through. But most importantly, you need to follow through for yourself

How much better are you going to feel when you find out who you are on the other side?

I ask myself this question every time there’s a tough challenge ahead. Right now, it’s 9:21 PM on a Friday, and I’m editing a client video. We just began working together, and so it’s very important to me that I do a good job for them, especially on this first attempt

Instead of being NERVOUS, here are some of the things I’m repeating to myself

I’m excited to see their reaction, and most likely, they’re going to LOVE this video

I’m excited to do what I love: editing videos

I’m excited to use this video as an opportunity to practice

I’m excited, if they don’t like the video, for me to get feedback, which helps me grow as an artist

And I’m excited to see who I am on the other side

See a pattern? I’m excited to see what’s going to happen

I hope this helps :)
